By
means of this short memo we would like to draw your attention to the obligation to
declare property tax.
This
is the case in the following situations:
(whereby
we shorten somewhat for editorial reasons):
1
If you acquire )the use of) an immovable property, you must submit a tax return
to the tax inspector within two months of the acquisition;
2
If a change occurs to the immovable property that causes the value to change by
more than 5 percent with a minimum of ANG 25,000;
3
The property tax works with periods of five years each.
Property
tax has been introduced as of the year 2014.
The
first five-year period therefore ran from 2014 to 2018.
The
next period started on January 1, 2019.
Even
if you have filed a property tax return after the introduction of the
obligation to declare, a tax return must be submitted if you have not received
a property tax assessment for 2019.
This
tax return must be submitted before 28 February 2021.
If
you do not file a tax return, the inspector can impose a fine of 100 percent of
the amount of the assessment, so it is worth paying attention to this.
Our
offices will of course be happy to assist you.
